In the year 1865, two young determined sisters go through a portal in their own home.

Melody the oldest sister took care of Hazel her younger sister, for their father died and their mother had ran away after Hazel was born.
These two girls never had an interest in men, or wealth, they did what they could to survive and get by.

The portal opens on a unusual day where Melody is throwing a party to celebrate Hazel's birthday; after the guests show up Melody goes to the kitchen to prepare a kettle for tea, but as soon as she returns Hazel is the only one in the hosted room for the party. They search around and soon to discover a portal in their fridge, Melody grabs a bag of supplies for her and Hazel to venture into the World Of Madness, not knowing where they are they bump into many different and strange characters.
One that helps them discover that their mother is alive... But not only alive, she is the Queen of all Darkness and Madness.

For the fae, magic is everything: status, power, wealth, honor. For Vera Reite, a fae born with no magic, it is a shameful reminder that she will never amount to anything.
