Schematic Beauty
A first, crap, draft of a story I'm rewriting in a universe I made up when I was 18 and still love. I don't really intend to publish this - it's the base for what's probably going to be a film, if I can get the main characters to stop jabbering at each other. Submit (Book 1, The Karyln Trials)
*Completed* We are only a number... How would you feel if when you were born, your whole life was set in front of you? If how you were treated was all dependent on where in the year you were born? Well, welcome to Karyln, formerly known as the United States before World War three and four. In Karyln, parents try to plan pregnancies to end right around the first of the year because when you're born decides how the rest of your life will be. The first boy and girl born gets the number one, they are projected to receive the best life possible. The next boy and girl get the number two, and I think it's pretty easy to guess how the rest goes. The only thing standing between the elite society and their perfect lives, is The Trial. Every year, on the first of June, everybody who has or is having their eighteenth birthday joins. It's a race to the finish line in teams of four and you could either become a higher or lower number depending on when you reach the end. This was created in hope to give those with lower numbers a chance to climb up the ranks. The Trial then developed into more. Pairs of boys and girls with numbers one through thirty live, while the others with numbers of thirty-one and beyond are purged to maintain population control. Oh how our country loves to dig bigger holes for itself. I'm warning you. **Currently having writers block so message me if anyone wants to help 『Congratulations! You have been chosen by the system!』 『What is your desire?』 After her world fell into ruin, she was unexpectedly chosen by the System, and a mysterious man took her away to save her. That's how her dream went. Trapped in a white room in a body of a child for hundreds of years, blindfolded, never to see the light. Her days were dull and monotonous, until she decided to take her blindfold off and escape. She became a Traveler under the System, and entered her first world, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. Her forgotten, agonising, past. "She never shows mercy to anyone, destroying everything in her path. That's why she's always covered in blood" Her beautiful present. "Kim Dokja is the first friend I've ever made. You're also my friend, Yoo Joonghyuk" And.... "Pick up your sword, Yoo Joonghyuk" "......" "Pick up your sword, and fight me" In this story, there exists a Reader, Writer, Protagonist and Villain. "Who's the villain? Cheon Inho?" "Not anymore" 『● Accept the role assigned by fate』 ...and her inevitable future. You're awake. You're different. You exist, suddenly, as two things. You, the one you know, with the body and name you're familiar with--and this new you, the one exists within you. This you is inhabiting a world within your own. This other consciousness that you see through has begun to sense its timeline, each word a moment. Like the you you're familiar with, this self seems to come into its life mid-story--though the way you experience this life/story differs vastly from what you're used to. As you grow you will eventually know how to articulate it, even recreate it. First, however, you must choose to embark on/in this small incarnation; you must read the first word. Soldier In Me
This is an older story, I've gotten better I promise. "I first held a gun when I was eight. I remember a man strolling across a line of other children like me, he said: 'We all have a soldier in us.' I found my soldier. But then, it became all I was. " Being forced into the army at a young age, Olivia knew nothing more than fighting. But after suffering a debilitating injury, she is forced to retire to her dead parents' home. There she'll find the secrets of her world and her humanity.
