Winston Wagner is a poet who occasionally dabbles in song-writing, particularly for local country band, Bad Whiskey. Robin Fields is a shy musician with a talent for song-writing, a rocky home life, a bad case of anxiety, and a rarely heard but beautiful voice.
When Robin offers Winston some help with lyrics, an unlikely partnership and friendship forms and, much to Robin's surprise, her songs are positively received by the members of Bad Whiskey.
A problem arises, however, when the lead singer is discovered and chooses fame over the band, which is now left with out a voice -- a position which Robin is thrust into when the bassist hears her singing. Now, Robin is being pushed into the spotlight while juggling an over-protective mother who wants Robin to have nothing to do with fame, and a blossoming relationship with Winston.
