After settling down in California with her mom she thinks it's permanent this time until suddenly she's moving again and this time its to the city where dreams are made and hopes are crushed. New York. She thinks she's seen what people have to offer and she's definitely not impressed but she hasn't met the students of Chrysalis High. Carter is definitely not ready for the whole new wave of drama that is coming her way. Carter thinks she's seen what life has to offer so far and the majority of the people she meets are either deceitful or distrustful, she believes that people have become far too predictable of chrysalis High School a private school for the elites and geniuses of America.

What happens when fate brings her face-to-face with the boy she thought she'd never see again? Nicky quickly realizes airing her emotions out in public via a number-one, hit song can make things complicated fast. As Nate and Nicky reconnect and navigate through their past, truths are revealed, assumptions are at an all-time high, and a publicity nightmare looms which jeopardizes all she's worked so hard for. While Nicky's misfortunes add up, she realizes fame comes with a price. She begins to understand the cold, hard facts, keeping her career intact as country's "it" girl and maintaining a personal life may be more difficult than it sounds, especially when you're living through a public scandal.
