A Photographer's Viewpoint
Isabella enjoys her life of being single and lives lavishly every passing day. She has absolutely no interest in dating and already devoted her future to be a full-on crazy cat lady. But, her mother desperately tries to convince her to marry by making her attend gatherings in order to find a husband. Of course, Isabella finds no interest in them and always ends up sitting in silence when attending these said gatherings. On a particular morning, she receives a phonecall from her co-worker that she had been invited to their wedding. At first, she was reluctant on going but decided to get a change of scenery and went anyway. There, she meets one of the photographers. A perculiar one at that who seemed to take an interest in Isabella and was adament on wanting to take pictures of her. _______________ "Let me take pictures of you." Waking up to a new reality
Eric was the younger of twelve year old twins, just approaching their thirteenth birthday. Although only six minutes younger than Lauren, she was clearly the alpha character when it came to sibling rivalry; she had an effervescent outgoing personality and exuded confidence in everything that she did. Eric, on the other hand, was introverted and largely lived his life in under the shadow of his sister. That was until Eric was diagnosed with a life threatening condition. Admitted to hospital for emergency life-changing surgery. Waking up a different person there was a new-found confidence and optimism that results in a metamorphosis into a life that is far from the shadows. Born out of Covid-19 lockdown, this was conceived as a light-hearted short story to counteract the doom and gloom that was resulting from the pandemic. It grew longer than expected, as I got to know Erin. The story might still be a bit rough round the edges, but I wanted to release it in time for summer vacation reading. There is no violence or hatred, just kindness and acceptance. For those that discount this as unrealistic of the real world, I counter two arguments: 1) It is a complete work of fiction. 2) My son went to Lycee (Senior secondary school) in rural France, where attitudes are generally very conservative. Despite this, there was a girl his his year, who believed she should have been a boy. HE was accepted for who he was, without prejudice. Hopefully it offers a little light reading with a happy ending. Everything is cringy and bad about this story, but I decided to complete this book since I got a lot of comments disappointed it was never finished. Eric didn't choose or really want to be gay, it just kind of happen- something that just happened, he can't even remember how he found out he was gay all he knew was that he was, And it wasn't like there's nothing wrong with that. Eric wasn't homophobic, he didn't feel disgusted in himself but rather disappointed. Everyone put pressure on him to be this perfect person, whether it being grades or sports or family- everything would be ruin if he came out. That's why he hadn't told anyone in the last couple years, not because he's scared- pft, Eric Goodmen scared? Star football player? Could have all the women by just a click of a button if wasn't for being in love with the same gender- scared? He was just a little 'inconvenienced'. One party changed everything though- to many drinks and making out with the wrong gender to send his fake perfect life crashing down when discovering out the first person he came out to, kissed, and had sex with was Callum Micheals.
