This story is about a girl named Hanna Smith. To her peers, she had the "perfect picture lifestyle." Not really. She comes from a family who has been victimized by poverty, mostly the cause of her being made fun of in primary school, but she was too young to care. She has a very light, hazel sparkle to her eyes and elbow-length light brown curly hair. She was an A-student, but had never been popular among boys, facing countless rejections in elementary and middle school. After living in Australia for all her life, her parents decide to move with her 2 sisters to London, England. Knowing she would miss Australia badly, she still agreed to go. She wanted to get away from Australia and her tendency not to fit in. Going to high school in England could completely change her life.
