My last light
Through poetry, this is the story of a boy traveller who once asked the stars for someone and then had a defining beginning. Now, his past begins to be a companion that torments him and leaves him without strength. There comes a time when the ice beneath you breaks and falls no matter what effort you make. Everything in it freezes, the darkness makes way, silence is the only thing there is and continues to fall to the point of being forgotten. An enemy appears and is the strongest to face. That is not all, the emotions do not seem to be of help, since it remembers certain people in their past and with it, the mark that each one left. Sometimes we fear truth over reality. But things get dark and heavy and we play the blame game. We end up hurting others or ourselves even. We don't think before we act or we don't say before we do. They say the world used to turn. They say that night would follow day in an endless dance. They say that dawn rose, dusk fell, and we worshiped both sun and stars. That was a long time ago. The dance has died. The world has fallen still. We float through the heavens, one half always in light, one half always in shadow. Like the moth of our forests, one wing white and the other black, we are torn. My people are the fortunate. We live in daylight, blessed in the warmth of the sun.
