She returns home from hunting to find a wounded man in her home, being tended to by her father. Upon discovering the mans purpose in Narcel Linna urges her father to turn him away, or better yet, report him to the guards.

The man introduces himself as Duncan Eltare, a freedom fighter from the grassy plains of Zanovah. Reluctantly Linna agrees to keep his identity a secret and is plunged into a world of adventure danger and secrets. Along the way they meet others sympathetic to their cause and play their part in the war to come, against the evil king and his deadly monstrosities.
