Eric is only in his early thirties, but every night he can hear the inescapable call of death. Fear burdens him continuously, and depression has infected his spirit to the point that he feels almost ready to give up. He feels as though his life is over, and he has nothing more to live for - but that's not what he wants, he WANTS to be happy, and can find no reason why he should not be.
