***First place winner for Paranormal category in the Tick Tock awards.*** Changed by an alchemist in the 1800s, Johem Hawke is now immortal. If he had not been in a blind rage at the time of his transformation, this may be a good thing. Unfortunately, the crystal placed within his chest cavity, not only gave him the ability to read a person's consciousness, have excessive speed, strength, and advanced intelligence, but also froze him in his current state of hatred. Johem loses his ability to feel. Changing his name to Draven Hawke, the statesman continues to hunt down men, like the ones who took his wife, for the next 200 years. Draven's only solace is to wipe out what he perceives as evil. Autumn is a kind woman who has a troubling life. Living on the streets leaves her open to many forms of trouble. When she sees Draven killing a man, who was trying to harm her, she cannot find any fear of him within her; only awe. Determined to know the man who saved her, Autumn follows and confronts him. When these two lives come together, Draven begins to remember some of the qualities that made him human. Still unable to feel emotion; he has an inexplicable need to try. Something about Autumn grips the crystal pulsing within him, her virtue reminding him that there is good in the world. Behind his confusion, he holds desire, and it is that desire that can destroy them both.
