My entry for Netflix's contest. I'm obviously not gonna win but I was bored out of my wits. Warning: may or may not be angsty.
Okay, so this is dedicated to my friends, two of which are on here in the names of @CherryCharcoal and @FrenchFryDwarf and please, go check them out if you have the time! They're great people. The unnamed character in the story may or may not be me. I won't spoil it though, lol. It is exactly 500 words long, phew. I was so indecisive for the final words, haha. The author loves to chat in the comments! :) Contains mentions of dark themes such as; self harm and disorders.

Anneliese is an empathetic, goofy, outgoing young woman who has struggled finding a place to discover herself. Often looking for new ways to meet friends, she wouldn't pass the opportunity to chat someone up. Even a stranger at the diner she works at to pass time and support herself. A dedicated man takes to the nativity of Anneliese. He's direct and prefers to keep to himself. Even an isolated man by choice can't withstand Anneliese's pull. Gravitating towards her, he manages to bring her a sense of comfort to the new beginnings in life. Not all beginnings are as true as they let off. ~ ❀ ~ I can't help but stare at her. Her face, lips, and smile, and her nose. Even her long, curled lashes. "Let's do a butterfly kiss!" She exclaims, pulling my face close suddenly. Kiss? My heart hammers in my chest, my breath hitching. Her small hands hold my face close to hers. It's not very forceful, I could pull away if I wanted to, but I let her have control. Her hands are warm and soft against my jaw. Getting closer, her eyes lashes flutter and I find myself holding my breath. She brushes her lashes to mine, her breath fanning against my lips. Subconsciously, I lean forward, wanting my lips to be on hers. June flutter her lashes, grazing her lashes to mine. Out of nowhere she bursts out in a fit of laughter. I flinch back. Butterfly kiss. That feeling of peace and all your problems drifting into space melting away, 16 year old Luke soon learns that being alone is not always a pleasant feeling. When he wishes to be left alone upon a wishing well he soon discovers being alone isn't such a nice feeling. As Lukes mind slips away from reality he's losing sanity. I squeezed my way through the abundant number of people, trying to get to the exit. I bumped into a lot of shoulders, until I found an opening. As soon as the door was in my sight, I heard Jessie calling out my name. Her voice grabbed my attention, and I briskly turned around. I knocked right into a tall figure, causing me to lose my balance and fall. All the people dancing blocked my vision so I couldn't grab onto anything to prevent myself from falling. My arms met the hardwood floor as I tried to catch myself, sending a shock of pain through my arms. "Forgive me ma'am." Someone said while extending an arm down to me. "It's fine. I wrote this story because I feel like we all have to conform to be how society wants us to be, when that's not who we really are, sometime in our lives. But we all have an escape. Sometimes it's through music, reading, friends, or whatever. Jane's escape comes through a boy named Mystery who helps her grow and flourish who she really is. "What the fuck is your problem?" I asked my sworn enemy. "Have you lost your damn mind!" I scream at the top of my lungs. This bitch better answer me before I lose my shit. "HELLOO!" I get closer this time. Now I'm directly in his face screaming at him. "WILL YOU FUCKING AN- mmfp." I was suddenly cut off by his lips on mine. He pushed his tongue into my mouth, exploring every inch like he's starving. He lets me go and I have to gasp in order to catch my breath. I already know my face is flushed and red. "Are you done princess?" He asked in his dark gravely tone. Dammit if he doesn't stop with this princess thing I think I may fall in love. "Yes, now what the fuck was that for?" I took a step back, so he doesn't decide to just kiss me again. I can't do that again. I am almost one hundred percent sure my panties are soaked. "You were talking too much." Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. There's always a change, an altering of reality. When you meet those people, the reality that you've known your whole life is suddenly gone and a new one has taken its place. When those moments happen, there's no going back. You can try to return to the way things were but nothing, and I mean nothing, can take you back to exactly how it was. That's what happened to us. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of.
