In the Shadow of Mountain Kings
Gandalf looked at her strangely once more, before a glimmering fleck of excitement crossed over his features. Upon catching her gaze wandering toward the backside of a certain flaxen-haired young prince, Gandalf would have looked nearly predatory to those who knew him well. And none of them were present to warn the little woman. This, the wizard had decided in that moment, would be a most amusing adventure indeed. Firiel-May Brandybuck fled to the home of her Uncle Bilbo, in the dead of night, out to escape a fate she thought worse than death: an arranged marriage. But even her strange gift of foresight, vague and imprecise, could not have prepared her for any of what came of it. At the inference of a wandering wizard, Firiel is called to adventure, and she will not refuse. His plans for her are simple, yet great in their future impact. All Firiel has to do is survive the trip. Should be easy enough, given the protector she has managed to acquire. A dwarven warrior, who may one day be a king. This story belongs to taokitime.
