I'm Sasha. Most people, on their fourteenth birthday, would have a party, or a cake, or be given a present or even just a card. I got much more than that. I don’t know whether to love it or to hate it, but it’s been given to me and I can’t escape it. Have you heard the stories, of great beasts roaming the land, billions of years ago? Of course, what first springs to mind is Dinosaurs. What if I said 15 years ago? Well you would say 'there wasn't any huge animals, except for Elephants of course.' That would be the wrong answer. You may have heard of them in story books, or seen them in ancient paintings or even on a flag. On my fourteenth birthday, I became a dragon.

Torin has always felt out of place in his small village. Despite the familiarity of his surroundings, he cannot shake the feeling that he doesn't belong. He longs for a place where he can truly be himself, away from the expectations of his people, a life free of the stifling weight of conformity. His dreams are filled with a sense of belonging, a vision of a life where he is accepted for who he is, not for who others expect him to be. One fateful day, while attending the annual Dragon Safe Arena, where dragons are brought to be killed for sport and fear, something extraordinary happens. A black dragon, larger and more majestic than any Torin has ever seen, enters the arena. The crowd erupts in excitement, but Torin feels an unexpected connection. The dragon's eyes lock onto his, and in that moment, he hears a voice-not in his ears, but in his mind. The dragon speaks to him, its words clear, yet impossible: "I see you, young one. You do not belong here." In a shock of realization, Torin understands the dragon's plea. No one else can hear it, no one else can understand the words-but Torin can. At that moment, everything changes. He chooses to defy the world he's always known, running away with the dragon, escaping the village that never understood him. As they journey together, seeking refuge in the wilds, they encounter other teens-four others-each of whom carries their own special gift. They, too, are misfits. One has the power to control the wind, another can manipulate shadows, a third can speak to animals, and the last can heal with a touch. The world's war against dragons has been going on for generations, but no one knows why they fought. After years of fighting a new species emerged, shapeshifters. They were able to shift between a dragon and human form, making them impossible to find. Everyone referred to them as halflings, half dragon and half human. They were said to have wondrous abilities ranging from an armor like pelt to healing powers. These abilities made them prized creatures and wanted across all lands. Those that were discovered usually ended up as pets or fighters in arena's. After five years of their existence they all went into hiding, fearing what the humans did to those that had been captured. They were taught at a young age to never show what they could do to a human, as it would lead to being caught and possibly killed. There were small sanctuaries in each town, though they appeared to be normal hotels or orphanages. And this is when our story takes place.... An old, unedited story I wrote years ago. Copy-pasted from my IPad. A story about a young dragon named Luminous, and her journeys around a fantastical world that really isn't as alive as it was described to be. So: there are many spelling mistakes, lots of sections of text that make no sense, random things being said, and... Yea. This is a story I thought of when I was a little kid, to keep me entertained at night when I couldn't sleep. No, I couldn't spell back then. It was written in parts, in old sketch books. Then typed. Here's the prologue or whatever the actual heck this thing is: Once, in a land so long ago there was a world filled with all types of creatures. Big cats, wolves, birds, fish, dinosaurs, and, most of all... Dragons. In this realm, there were two types of dragons: Black dragons, evil, mysterious creatures, and White dragons, elegant, beautiful beasts. Not all of these dragons were black and white though, infact, there was only ever one white dragon and one black dragon ever hatched. They were.. Well, use to be... Sisters. These dragons can be in all manner of shapes and sizes, colours and patterns, and not all dragons breathed deadly flames. Some had the breath of water, ice, snow, air, wind, and all colours of fire. But, no matter what type of dragon it is, how strong or weak it may be, they all had magic in them. You can tell whether a dragon is a black dragon or white dragon simply by looking into its eyes.
