First it squirmed into the minds of everyone over 18, driving them insane. Then it ravaged their bodies, turning them to something inhuman. It was psychopathy, with a stomach churning twist. It somehow did something to some of the younger, infection free survivors, giving them strange abilities they never knew they had, or didn't know how to control. Now, a band of fourteen year old friends are on the run, trying to find a safe haven. But with more than one kind of enemy on their tail, will they make it out of this alive?

The government has a secret, they are the cause of the apocalypse of the dead. They wanted a weapon, something that no one would be able to beat. They created a virus, one that wakes the dead, that creates more like them. But it went wrong. It kills women, and those women infect others. They've found no women that can get past it. They keep the secret, let the world believe the apocalypse is here, that the government didn't just kill the world, while they search for a cure. It's then that they learn of the one girl that hasn't been infected, she's immune, and they're going to do everything they can to get her. Cassandra Bryan, a 19 year old college student, is thrown into the world of the undead when she comes home to witness firsthand what the world has come to. All she wants is to keep her friends safe and find somewhere safe they can live, away from the horrors of the world. She travels the continent, trying to find somewhere she can stay. She faces unimaginable threats and has to learn to face her fears, or die at the hands of them. She faces many things and find some things. She faces death and sadness, faces the unthinkable. And she finds real friendship and even love. Is it possible to love in the apocalypse? She'll just have to find out. She learns of what the government did and that they are looking for her, and she runs, trying to keep her and her friends alive. But there's only so much one girl can do. Will she find somewhere safe to hide from the government? Or will the government finally catch her? Will she fall to the world of the undead? Will her love survive the apocalypse? Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise.
