Elizabeth ("Libby") Montgomery has spent her summers basking in Edisto Beach, South Carolina for as long as she can remember. Her and her family, who stay in a beautiful beach house during the warmest months of the year, are always accompanied by their beloved family friends who rent the house next door: The Hansons.
Libby has practically grown up with the Hansons' son of the same age, Cole. Summers full of sandcastle wars, golf cart rides, and strawberry ice cream cones have been a childhood constant that she always looks forward to. Everything has always been perfectly the same.
