Nathan Samuals is the popular, rich, arrogant guy and he's a player. They don't exactly see eye to eye. But Nathan does enjoy to tease her a lot. Nathan's parents want to meet his girlfriend. But him being a player doesn't help the situation. So he decides to make a deal with Madison. They have to pretend to be in love with each other for the rest of the year and whoever falls in love first looses. Okay he just added that to make it fun. But the main deal was that if she pretended to be his girlfriend for his parents' dinner for one night he would give her 500 dollars. And since she needed the money she has no other choice but to accept.
