Non-Humans: Surge

In the year 2040, an alien device crash landed on Earth. An infection spread across the globe, infecting several major cities with in hours. Spreading like a wildfire with no strategy.
The device did something else. It changed the surrounding atmosphere into a sight unrecognizable.
Days after the device went active, billions of people began to show symptoms of the infection. Even those who were far away from the device.
One researcher found the phenomena, within a survival of the infection. She used her discovery to create a vaccination for the infection. Resulting in what humanity thought was the extinction of the infection. But the truth was, the infection was not part of the device's operating system.
Thirty years later, a group of teenagers visiting the crash-landing site of the device, activated the device by mistake. Causing a new phenomenon to occur. And changing their lives for ever.
