After the End, Tom was the one who was the most heartbroken. He lost almost everything he loved. Susan, Tomme, His house. But none of those reasons were why he was so heartbroken. He was heartbroken due to Tord.
He only showed a little affection towards Tord in the End but he had so many happy memories of Tord in his head that he couldn't help but smile when he saw him for the first time in years.
Then when he had to use his harpoon to destroy Tord for his friends and neighbors, He lost all his happiness during the whole thing. But he could only showed carelessness about the whole thing.
He hoped he would never see that Norwegian psychopath ever again. But that all changed the day that they moved into their new home.

I have based this after the end with Tord beoming red leader and Tom trying to move on after Edd and Matt left.
