Liam ran away before he was drafted into a Great War that's been going on for years on end, leaving his mother and little brother behind. He seeks travel with his best friend Jean, a pirate captain. He comes back 10 years later, wanting to visit his family. When he goes back, he finds many changes around his old home and village. With his little brother connection with the King of the Castle, he gets to meet the King in strange ways.
During his stay at his mothers home, Liam accidentally finds out that an assassination for the King and Prince's head was going around. With the help of the castle servants and his family, they were able to get the King and Prince out of the castle. On several failed attempts to make sure the two royals get to safely, Liam takes things into his own hands. He takes the two royals and his brother with him to Jean's ship for safe passage to a war camp where soldiers will be able to protect them.
