My project for my driver's ed class. It was sort of about what happens after a drunk driving accident and I've never actually gone through this kind of thing so it's not EXACT TO WHAT IS REAL in real life. It kind of focuses on how friends can get you through rough times and I plan to extend this if it's any good to other people.
A Note: I did not intend for this to be as long as it was, but I wanted to focus on what happens to the people you care about after an accident. And once I started I couldn't stop. Not all of this is accurate to what happens in the real world, I'm sure that there would be more police presence and questioning involved but I did not feel I could accurately portray such things.

The Best Kind of Betrayal
It's the first day of June's senior year and everything is already going wrong. Her first boyfriend and supposedly love of her life dumps her for someone else, her heart is broken and feels like it won't ever heal again and her best friend makes her join the most unnecessary club on earth to help her find new friends she most definitely does not need. Still. New chances are for new beginnings, right? Instead of falling into a deep dark pit of self pity (however tempting that may sound), all of this betrayal ends up leading her to the best friends she's ever had and the most exciting school year of her life. Oh - and a whole new fake boyfriend, to get some revenge on that idiot who dumped her. And who knows. Maybe even more.

Growing up in a large, middle-class (if not lower) family had its challenges. More than I can account for actually. I had five older sisters and two older brothers. Throw me into the mix and that's a grand total of eight children living under one roof. If my mom hadn't stopped with yours truly, we would have definitely been able to form an entire soccer team with just our family alone. I can't recall much of my childhood and exactly how I interacted with each and every one of my siblings, but I can assure you that it was nowhere near a nice walk through the park. Even until this very day, I still stand by my statement. This is a story about a broken girl who fools the world with one simple action which requires less than ten muscles. "Ten years ago today was the worst day of my life. On the 17th of November 2007, I lost my best friend in a hit-and-run car accident. It's been a hard ten years, living from day to day with an awful childhood tragedy at the back of my mind, but the years still crawl by agonisingly slowly. I say that, but when I think about Alice and what happened to her it barely seems like yesterday. My therapist seems to think that documenting everything I think and feel in this diary will finally help me get over her death-and who knows? Maybe he's right. Or maybe he's very wrong; in which case I suppose this diary could serve as some kind of "note"." This is really just me playing around with the diary format and exploring what would happen to the friends of someone who died young - how they would react and try to pick up their lives etc. When writing this, I picked a start date for the diary that seemed far away but it's soon crept up on me, so I had the idea of posting it on the actual dates stated in the book. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one that drives down the interstate and imagines what it would be like to steer just a little to the right and crash through the guardrails or drive off the side of a cliff, maybe hit a tree or two while going eighty miles per hour. Am I the only one that wants to know what it would be like to feel the sting of glass shattering from the windshield and cutting into your skin, blood trickling down your face and the copper taste hitting your lips. Would I scream? Would I try to escape and call for help or would I stay frozen in place? I wonder if anyone would really even miss me, would the world be different in any way? My work would have to find someone to work the night shift, someone would have to clear out my apartment so that a new tenant can move in, my mom and dad would have to pretend to be torn apart over the lose of their eldest daughter. I don't think much would change, I have no real significance in this world. I don't think any of my friends would be too terribly distraught over it, it's not as if there's anyone I talk to on a regular basis anyway. I push down on the accelerator, watching as the speedometer hits one hundred and I check my mirrors for cops, smiling to myself when I see that I'm the only car on the road at this hour.
