After 19-year-old Ashley gets lost following a failed gondola ride in the mountains, things look grim. Lost in a snowstorm at dusk, Ashley is ready to give up when she is rescued by a mysterious figure: Eric Northman.
Snowed in and cut off from all civilization with the tall, muscular man with blonde hair, piercing blue eyes and a chin you could cut yourself with, something quickly becomes clear: Eric is not only irresistible... but also a vampire. Despite having (and hiding) her own secrets and having been told from a young age to never cross paths with a vampire because of her nature, she throws caution to the wind and gives in to the advances of the 1,000-year-old Viking, hoping she won't lose her heart. "Oh Annie, darling." The sweater flew across the room before she even had a chance to take another breath - or reevaluate her words. "You must never say that to a man. Vampire or human. Man is man, and I-" Eric spun her around and practically threw her onto the sofa, then was over her again, this time without pants, his gaze blazing and hungry. "I am both."
