you would think super powers improve you,  wouldn't you? well,  here are a few things that don't help.  every power has it's downside,  even the safest,  some of them,  fatal.  also,  it can't be created or destroyed,  so the power goes somewhere,  causing you to physically change,  and the powers come with memories,  which are never good.  also, what good is power when to others youre a freak? maybe it would be better to live without them.
