Tragedy struck Niall's home when he was only nine. His now abusive father shows no interest in caring for his baby brother Anthony. Niall had to grow up fast in order to provide for his little brother and give him the life he wanted him to have. Mary's father isn't any better, in fact he's worse than Niall could ever imagine. When Niall meets Mary, he wants nothing to do with her, but she just won't let him be. After Niall repeatedly saved her ass from Dale, her all too bad for her boyfriend and her abusive father, he grows fond of her. He finds himself wanting to protect her more and more.
He knows how it feels to be hurt and abused. He wants better for both Mary and his little brother Anthony, so he runs. With Mary and Tony in hand they face nothing but obstacles that neither of them would ever dream about. Some may just ruin them all together.
