Forced into Hiding

He stared at me. The dark curls that flowed around my shoulders, the foreign blue eyes that stared straight back.

"Are you Lady Taja?"

His eyes kept searching for any resemblance of her, the woman his brother had trusted, loved.

I chuckled, "Sister-in-law still works."

He slammed his fists on the table. "Oh does it? Then why did you kill him? Why did you kill my brother?! Your husband?!"

My grin faltered. Those words were all too familiar, the accusation, the assumption, yet an ache spreads through my chest everytime someone mentions him. Even now, his brother sits before me, reminding me of him. They didn't look exactly alike, but it was enough for me to feel tears trying to push past my mask of confidence.

I sighed, staring straight into those eyes whos twin lies in a grave.

"You already know the answer. I didn't kill him."
