The group end up leaving their past behind them as the come back to America with a shocking surprise. Samuel realizes that they're in Thunder Valley, the town his caretakers lived in. Only, Michael Rose has turned the once blooming small town into a dystopian land where looting shops, fighting, killing, and betrayal is the only way to live. The group ends up meeting up with Samuel's childhood friend and living with her and two of her friends in a cramped RV. Isaac starts to fall apart, Marceline grows tired and scared of everyone after a scarring experience, Jeff turns into a younger version of his uncle in order to protect the ones he loves, Samuel is concerned for everyone and wonders why he's even born, and C.J. begins to grow depressed. All under the condition of their past coming back to haunt them in a more brutal way.

Until one day his brother killed him in cold blood and locked Victoria up in a cell. When she turned 18 she was offered a deal. Each year Alancia holds a fighting tournament for public display. The biggest and the baddest fight in this tournament and barely make it out alive. She has to fight in this tournament and if she won she had her freedom back. If she lost she would loose her freedom once again. Victoria knows she can't pass up this opportunity up. But that only fed into his sadness. Drew was insecure. He didn't like standing up for himself in fear of saying something wrong. He didn't even change in the main locker room for PE, he went in the stalls. He was anxious. He wanted to know what was happening and when so that he can prepare for all possible outcomes of that event. And he was gay; his family knew and supported him, but no one else knew.
