Fern Riley was born on Natrolite, a planet just like Earth discovered secretly by a NASA agent, whose year is eight times faster and puts the limits of science and physics to the test. Science and Natrolite's environment have allowed Natrolite's citizens to pick the age they want to live at. Once Fern turns sixteen, only then can she start to pick what age she wants to live the rest of Natrolite's time--who knows how long? Everything repeats, as if she lived her sixteenth year again and again. The day after she chooses to live sixteen for eternity, a strange book appears telling of another strange planet similar in that to Seslion, only things don't repeat. Its inhabitants are terminated. Fern is tired of living the same life over and over, every day. Then comes a crazy idea...to put her 'useless' math and science knowledge to work.All Rights Reserved

Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.

It doesn't make sense. How is any of it possible? Where does the plot line link? Why care about some random teen aliens? Oh, God, why does it get dark so fast? Kathleen had been imprisoned for years. She had no idea who they were or why she was there. Every day for years it had been the same thing. No talking or communicating with her captors after the first year she no longer tried. Getting beaten for making any noise at all. They didn't even speak within hearing distance of her. She was given a book and daily exercise but hadn't seen the sun or outside since she was put in her cell. Until that day when it all changed. Aliens existed and she was going somewhere with them, not sure as to where but at least she was out of her cell. She would not go back in one no matter how nice her new 'cage' seemed. Thinking of continuing this as another story with other humans and aliens. Like after Kathleen's abduction.
