Emery Kace is your average flirt (and on rare occasions, your above average prankster), who was adored by nearly every boy in the school. In a game of dare or double dare she is forced to kiss one of the school's hottest, most popular, most intimidating boys. It doesn't affect her in the slightest, because all she saw him to be was a boring, rude, stone-faced buzz kill, with no idea how to have fun, but as she gets to know him, she learns that he's more than just a straight face.
Ryder Holland isn't your average teenage boy. Yes, he's athletic and popular, but he isn't loud, he doesn't like eating in public, and above all he is not affected whatsoever by the presence of a girl - more so, he was not affected by Emery Kace, one of the school's hottest, most popular, most intimidating girls.
