Hanna Bentley is a hardworking FBI agent from NSB (national security bureau). Her closest friends, Derek Morgan and Spencer Reid have known her since she was in the academy, which happens to be where she met the two.
She's also known Aaron Hotchner since she was eight years old, back when he first started working for the BAU. It was one of his first cases, and he and some others had questioned Hanna after she watched her family be tortured and killed, everyone in her family except her and her older brother, who killed him self two weeks later.
In and out foster cares, and abused by several families she was with, she still managed to get passing grades and make her way into the FBI.
But when she requests a transfer from the NSB to the BAU, unit chief Aaron Hotchner gives her quite the cold shoulder, and she can't understand why. When she was little, he was her hero. Sure she had forgotten him for the most part, she was eight, but when she gets her interview, she starts to remember.
And it frustrates her to no end that he treats her so coldly, until she starts dishing it right back to him.
But all Aaron wants to do is protect her, and he can't do that with her in the field. So is their hate really even hate?
As an FBI agent in the Dallas field office, your unit calls for collaboration with the BAU. Years later, a decision is made for you, catapulting you suddenly into that same team - this time as a trainee.
Amongst the flurry of cases, new teammates, and the struggle to keep up with the load of work, you start to carve out a new life. And if the man who'd grabbed your attention back then, SSA Aaron Hotchner, happens to slowly become your friend - you welcome it with open arms. Developing feelings for him - less so.
This is a slow burn, and title from Maggie Rogers' song :)
