Aly is stuck. She's stuck in prison, she's stuck in life, and she's stuck in her head. She doesn't know how or why her life is like this, however she's learned to accept it. But when a new boy, Nate, is thrown into her cell, she begins to realize what she's missing. And just when she think she can't take it any longer, her world is turned upside down. 

Little does she know that her hectic new life is the least of her problems. There is a war raging on outside her protective walls, and she is destined to be a part of it, whether she wants to or not. Humans are fighting their own creation of a better mankind, but for what reason? The mutations say they want peace and equality, but is that really true? Aly has to decide which side to choose, if it even is a choice. Does she want to be a slave, fighting others like her for the Unchanged, or does she want to fight for freedom with the Mutts to create a better world? 

Only one can win, but will either rule be any better?
