❝Don't you see the cycle we are living in? The same repeating cycle our ancestors have lived in?❞ I yell glaring at him. He chooses to remain silent, his eyes set in a hard glare. He's starting to get annoyed with me, but I have to help him understand the reality of our situation, ❝Of course you don't see it. How could I be so stupid as to think-❞ ❝I choose not to see it.❞ He says calmly, ❝I choose to do so because the way I feel about you means so much more to me.❞ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ After the creation of Homo Sapiens X, a new and improved species of humans, the world has never been the same. A strict hierarchy exists with the X's on top and the regular humans on the bottom. Segregation and discrimination continue to viciously thrive in this environment, as the hate amongst the two species of humans continue to grow daily. The years of bad blood between the two species has made co-existence very difficult. When Worthington University, a school strictly made for the X's, decides to conduct an experiment in attempt to establish the possibility of co-existence, Veronica "Ronnie" Morrison is unfortunately picked as one of the Guinea pigs. As she moves onto enemy grounds, Ronnie begins to realize that in order to possibly end the hierarchical cycle she has been living in for years and survive she must make a choice: her own kind, or the other. Ronnie's choice would have been easy, had she not found herself falling for Mason Worthington, an X and a descendant of the late Scientist Lincoln Worthington who created the formula for Homo Sapiens X. Her choice will be difficult; it will be the only one that counts.

I smiled at him but tears were starting to blur my vision together. "I hate you." His smile faltered and he looked taken back, "Not like that, Drake. I hate you because you make me cry. You're supposed to beat up the guys who make me cry, not be one of them." "But they are happy tears, right?" he clarified. I smiled and nodded my head, before gripping his shirt, pulling his body against mine. "I'll never make you cry because you're sad, understood? I'm never leaving you." I didn't respond this time, I just sat in his lap, holding his torso and he played with my hair. "I don't know if I can let you in yet Drake," I told him truthfully, the one thing I had been dreading telling him. "I know. But I'll never hurt you like the others have. I-"he cut himself off and took a deep breath. "Riley?" he moved me away from his shirt. I looked at him in the eyes and say an emotion. One I hadn't seen in a long time and one I haven't seen in his eyes before. "Can I kiss you?" __________________ Drake was the player of the school. Everyone knew his name. Riley was the nerd of the school. No one knew her name. Complete opposites but for some reason, opposites seemed to attract. Riley knew that Drake had a new girl every week, but she felt like she could change him. And maybe she could. Maybe she'd be different. *Based on a true story*
