The rule is called "Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." The rule allows anyone that saves a life to take a life. So, if you save someone then you can legally murder someone. So, doctors are the most feared and praised people in the world. Feared cause they save lives every day and then praised for the same reason. Jed Limestone is a normal everyday kid. Except this doctor named Doctor Brown has been saving his kills for years. He has now just retired at the age of 75 and some people say he is planning on killing many people. But Jed does not believe that. Until he is walking through a hospital and looks through Dr. Brown's office that Dr. Brown mistakingly left open. Jed looks at a board with tons of pictures on it. On the top, it says in big red letters "TARGETS." And he looks at the pictures again. And his face is the 5th picture. They're incredibly timid creatures, but excellent survivors and very agile. They'd look 100% human if not for their ears, tails, and feet. Carter is the youngest in a family of four, resilient with a daredevil spirit. After a tragic turn of events he's left to fend for his own, and manages alright, until the unimaginable happens. The year was 2157 when Earth crumbled and governments fell. Most living things died and their was a silence on earth that was deafening. The first particles of disease fell in North America in the Spring of 2157 and began to scatter and mutate into virus and bacteria. Bombs sailed through cities leveling Government buildings, business and residential. Historians call this period Decay. Ricin poisoning and nerve gases were released. Citizens began to fall ill and die quickly. Later historians found out that a few middle east countries, China and Russia poisoned all food with Ricin. The food was then shipped to US, Canada, UK, many European countries. This period is only known as "Decay' Some humans survived. Either from paranoia or luck, so the stories go. The paranoid ones were waiting for the first signs of a fallout and when it began they hid in their underground 'storage containers'. These were completely sealed once someone closed the door. The doors were automated and within 2 to 5 years depending on the setting chosen the doors would automatically open. The history of the 'lucky ones' is that they knew someone who had a container and welcomed them, or they hid in the container until the family that owned it got in and sealed the door. And hope they would not be killed for trespassing. Now it is 2243. The world has drastically changed. In this world the 'Owners' and 'Potentials' rule the 'communities'. Guards police, keeping communities separated. The Powers rule over what was once called North America now simply called East Nation North (ENN). Superiors handle their community they are assigned to. Under the Powers, Superiors, Water Protectors, Guards, owners and potentials come the animal breeders next on the hierarchy. Then the last three levels don't really matter to anyone. Those are the baby breeders, slaves and throwaways. They have no say in anything.
