Lenore Hexhart, the second child to a Victorian style loving mother, is attending her sophomore year in high school in a new town. She now lives in a cul-de-sac with her older brother Edgar and her mother Brigetta Hexhart. Lenore and her family always wear black and love the Victorian style. Lenore, herself is what many of her peers refer to as, a goth. Lenore loves to read books and poems, she also loves to draw and sketch. She's never actually been in a relationship before and her brother makes sure of it.

Lucien Bloodmarch, the son of a Victorian loving man named Damien Bloodmarch, is a goth bad boy who gets into trouble and pranks people in sick ways. Lucien hasn't been in a real relationship for awhile and doesn't expect to be. Piercings, a tattoo, side hair, eyeliner; he has it all. He was always the only goth in his school. That is until he sees Lenore at his table in the lunchroom.
