Some things are never meant to happen the way that they happen. Some things are not supposed to break the way they break, but we are not in charge of this earth. We cannot oversee how things are fixed and how they break. We are only capable of putting the pieces back together...mending broken hearts and healing empty souls. Why him? They ask her constantly. Why the heartless man to comfort the hurting soul? Because, she always responds, even after countless mood swings, crazy demands, constant reassurance, and stupid arguments, he never gave up on her. Why her? They would ask her every time. He'd respond the same. Because I don't want to court her in bed. I want to love her in life. Polar opposites attract. Elizabeth and Romeo attract. They just want to love each other in life through the pain, the agony, the abuse, the depression, the anxiety, the mafia, the breaking, the fixing, the helping, the hurting. It's just love at the end of the day.

I was enduring a feeling which I determined to never let happen, I was feeling suffocated in the web of something unexplainable, I was getting lost for the beauty of heart not knowing how to take care of it. I was longing for something too fragile, gentle, delicate knowing that it can get broken by being with me. "He was my safe place without me realizing it... he was my savior even before i met him, he was the person i dreamt about without recognizing it, he was the love in a heart where there was no hope of any emotion, he became my only family making me remember the love i lost with my parents." I wanted to keep her in my world, hoping our combined colors would blend into a beautiful sky filled with stars, a moon, and endless happy moments shared between us. She felt like my destination, a place where my mind could finally be at peace, free of thought. In a world where I felt defined by my parents' expectations, she felt like my own reality.

My mind drifted backwards to the one who possess similar blues but his held more fire, one unacceptable because of what he is to me. But he didn't care and that didn't stopped him. "Why should I fight for the first that holds no meaning?" That's when a shout was heard, then the slapping of fast footfalls against the concreted floor. I whispered to these now scared blues, who tried to break a broken girl, "Here comes my useless knight, in dull amour."

Shit. That's how Derrick's life was going after the accident. Hazy memories and scars he didn't need were splintering what was left of what he did remember. Derrick's tattoo shop seemed to get along just fine without him, his magic abilities were short circuiting and for the first time in his life, he wasn't sure who he was anymore. Not to mention some guy named Mike insisted that they were best friends before he lost his memory. As if he'd be friends with someone who breathed positivity.
