When Marinette Cheng heads out to the Purrsian Club in Paris, she hardly expected to witness a murder - a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons.

This is Marinette's first meeting with the Akumahunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of akumas. It's also her first encounter with Adrien, an Akumahunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk.

Within twenty-four hours Marinette is pulled into Adrien's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Marinette herself is attacked by an akuma. But why would akumas be interested in ordinary girls like Marinette and her mother?

It must have something to do with that strange, Chinese box of items...
