The city lights were beautiful and bright. But he was more beautiful. On top of the roof of the World Trade Center, I felt like I had a purpose. A beautiful life. But here, on this roof, I could only see illusions that hid reality. I turned to hug Cody, and he quickly pulled me in. I was safe here, in his arms.
"I love you" he whispered into my messy hair.
"I love you too" I whispered into his chest. He kissed the top of my head and warm shivers ran through my body. This was love. Right? I didn't know anymore, I didn't want to know. It wouldn't matter anyways. There was nothing that would matter. Not life, not people, not worry. After all, the city lights weren't always beautiful.

The blood had already leaked down my forehead, but I kept my eyes on Shane and tried to blink quickly to clear my vision. "Hang on, please. Please hang on." He pleaded, holding my body up to a sitting position. I couldn't even remember what had struck me and I was getting nervous by Shane's worried face. "I'm... it hurts." I mumbled. "I'm so sorry." I was drowning. I knew that. I also knew that the hands around my throat, pushing me deeper into the river water was the cause. What I didn't know was who was drowning me and why. It hurt thinking.
