BOOK I: The Reasons - the ground is unforgiving. So is survival. Madison Cameron was born in space, a child of the Ark, never feeling the sun on her skin or breathing the fresh, unfiltered air of Earth. But where Madison is focused on the harsh reality of survival-pragmatic, calculating, determined to keep them alive - Bellamy's vision is driven by something more abstract: freedom. They clash over their ideals - her need for structure, his thirst for freedom - and every time their paths cross, the tension between them makes their already perilous situation even more volatile.
