That was it. I had survived. I had made it to the last day of the everlasting year. Nothing would stop my mother from keeping me alive. At least, that was what I had thought that day. Many people tried to hide their children after they were born. Some, out of spite, threw the infants onto the streets, leaving to fend for themselves.
