That was it. I had survived. I had made it to the last day of the everlasting year. Nothing would stop my mother from keeping me alive. At least, that was what I had thought that day. That was before I knew about the rebellion.
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  1997. That was the time everything changed.  Women were banned from having children.  Many people tried to hide their children after they were born. Some, out of spite, threw the infants onto the streets, leaving to fend for themselves.  A few even killed their children as they didn't want them to go through the same problems that they faced. As it was, the young souls with unfortunate birth years suddenly disappeared. Except for 18-year-old Alexis Lockhart. But that would change soon.
  Very soon.
MINDSLIP by TonyHarmsworth
34 parts Complete
MINDSLIP is the catastrophe which hits the Earth at 8.15am GMT next Wednesday morning. It began six hundred and fifty years earlier when Betelgeuse fulfilled its long-held prophecy to turn supernova. The radiation, gamma rays and gravitational waves hit the Earth at the same time as a coronal mass ejection. The combined bombardment causes all creatures on the Earth to swap minds, leaving people in animals, animals in people, men in women and children in adults. The nightmare which follows becomes a social and economic catastrophe. Geoffrey Arnold becomes a key figure in the government catastrophe committee, formed to resolve the myriad issues raised by MINDSLIP. Power generation, the health service, farming, pay, pensions, education, the banking system and asset ownership spiral into chaos. In addition, Geoffrey must save his wife from an imminent premature death brought on by one of the MINDSLIP effects. MINDSLIP is a realistic, frightening and sometimes amusing work of imagination which explores how people and families react to the world being changed beyond recognition. Note: MINDSLIP had been acquired by a publisher who, regrettably, has now folded. Rather than put the original version up on Wattpad, I have decided to give it a considerable edit. I'd love to know what you think. The early chapters might disturb, but hopefully they will also make you think about how you would deal with Geoff, Andrea, Angus, Caroline or Allan's situations. Year 12 (First Draft)
30 parts Complete
The Year Rules were devastating. Year 7- Beginner Test Year 8- Volunteer Year 9- Five Part Testing Year 10- Academy Prep Course 1 Year 11- First School Test Year 12- Anything not completed on time from Years 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11, result in Abandonment By Year 7, I was already on the streets. I never got to take my Beginner Test, and I never got to prove myself to anyone. I was expected to fend for myself in a harsh environment, not fit for a child. I moved past it, though, gaining street smarts rapidly, while my book smarts were left to their own devices. Year 12 wasn't going to be the start of my long career path, or the continuation of my academic career. It was just another Year on the streets. Year 12: Abandonment for Felsha Martins, date of birth November 19th, 2509, current number of Years in Abandonment, 6. Current Abandonment date: November 19th, 2521 Year 12 was going to be my growing point. Year 12, was meant to push me further down, break me, put me in my place. But I wasn't going to let that happen.
