Wren Beamish is a quick-thinking lowlife; she's clever, smooth-talking, and plagued with regrets. When she isn't sleeping around for the food and endorphins, she's working the checkout counter. Then Margaret Goldberg, neurotic-girl-next-door, stumbles into Wren's life. The two are quickly entangled in a web of murder, deceit, love, and unreliability; and it's up to them to sort it out.
