She was clueless and fearful, living in that rutted old, man-made treehouse. He was set to her partner in forage and survival. They were meant to get along, but yet that didn't happen so well. 

He was basically her Guardian Angel.. just a bit arrogant, rude and a complete jackass. 

So, I guess you could say, he was her guardian devil.
