An excerpt from Consequentially: Chapter 1
We opened the door just in time to witness the girl’s parents simultaneously breaking down in tears. Her parents could neither see nor hear her, and the child’s comforting fell upon deaf ears. Slowly she turned toward each parent and embraced them, no doubt relishing their companionship despite their failure to notice her. The girl sat with them for some time, crying in shock and disappointment, feeling useless and lost. She tugged at their sleeves, screaming and kicking, trying to make them feel a touch that no longer belonged in this world.
