“Then I’ll just make you like me,” her blue eyes lit up in realization.

“Uh huh.” Humor me.

“Yep. You're smart but I'll give you a heads up. So here’s the plan. I’ll win one argument. I know you won’t back down, so we’d be hanging out, like, everywhere, talking because how else would we argue. You’ll always want- no, need to prove me wrong. But then you’ll lose because-”

“Bah, I’d probably fall in love with you first before you out-speak me in an argument.” I feigned arrogance and probably indifference.

"Exactly!" she beamed, happy that I was getting the drift of her craziness.

But when my words hit me back like a boomerang, my breath caught.

This is our argument zero, the start of the start. I have already laid my aces but I failed to call her bluff. My own ego had led me into the trap that girl hadn’t meant to set up.

It’s a win-win for her even before we started. There would be no other choice since I’ve already lost.
