Daisy is Ellie's sister. She continually cares for Ellie. She is sick. Ellie can not go outside because of all the harmful chemicals in The air that she is allergic to. She has special filters everywhere in the house to filter away the chemicals.

All Ellie wants is to live a happy life where she has no boundaries. Daisy will never let her do that. Jake, the new neighbour, has seen Ellie looking out of the window in sadness for a while and he wanted to turn her frown upside down. He sees her looking at him one day and he writes on a whiteboard 'hi' and so does she. That is how they communicated for the first few weeks.
