Hallie's used to feeling like she's not wanted. Her small group of her friends think she's a total bore unless she's drunk. The guy she's been in love with for years has never even thought of looking at her the same way. Her mom hates her guts and her dad's always too busy on tour to even give his eldest daughter a second thought. When Ethan Crest, her dad's new opening act, comes to live with them for the summer to practice along with her father, she initially believes that he's fallen under the curse of hating her too. But only time will tell if he's done the opposite instead and actually fallen for her.

When the bullying finally overwhelms her, she decides to leave all that she's ever known, and the boy she's loved all of her life, to go to Nashville to chase her dreams. Little does she know that her next door neighbor will flip her life upside down, these two people, randomly thrown together will help each other more than either ever expected.
