Jupiter, Florida in 1952, Italian expatriate Mitch Grassi, is the ambitious owner of one of the last struggling freak shows in the United States, entitled 'Mitch's Cabinet of Curiosities,' and is seeking his own fame and stardom. He recruits conjoined twins Kirstie and Kirstin Maldonado, whose two heads are shared by one body, Mitch's confidante Connie Hoying as known as the beaded lady, her son lobster-handed son Scott Hoying, the giantess Willam, Matt the Illustrated Seal, the legless Candice, pinheads Jenise and Kevin, the youngest Isabel, and dwarf performers: Jeremy Lewis, and Mitch's significant companion Betty Who.
