The window was open. Had she left it open when she went to sleep? Yes, of course she had.
And the bed was empty. But it wasn't, she saw something stirring under the covers. Not a
person, no it was far too small for that. A rat perhaps, or a wayward bird blown by the wind.
She approached with some trepidation and whisked the bed linens aside like a magician
unmasking his handiwork. A carpet snake, beautiful in its majestic elegance and bearing, sat
coiled beneath the covers. Hardly moved, much less intimidated, by this disturbance, the snake calmly lifted its head, stuck its tongue out, and resumed its lazy, comfortable, and deceptively lackadaisical posture.
"Oh, so it's you? You're the cause of all this ruckus are you?"
The serpent calmly lifted its head, a slight gleam of amusement in its eye.
"Look at me, shall we? What is it you see in me that makes you think I shan't throw you far
under the stars and watch your flight into the night?" Barb smiled at her rhyme and wit as she
addressed the snake.
The snake, though, saw through the veiled threat and raised its head in a gentle dance
reminiscent of its cousin, the cobra. Barb dropped the remnants of the vase, shattering it further, as the serpent spoke, "You ssseeeee meeee? And I brrrinng Tthhheee neews and trrue iittss tthhroough the wwiinndow I ccooomme hheerre mmyy deear, why dooo youu aact ssooo quueer?"

"No no no no..." My words trailed "NO!!" I screamed, pulling harshly at all my restraints, attempting to get free, hearing the harsh clank of metal on metal with every movement.
Colder than the table beneath me, chills ran through my body. This couldn't be happening, please.
A sadistic laugh rang through the room and my head fell in defeat as my eyes squinted closed, not wanting to see his face.
"Yes, actually." I felt his disgusting, filthy hands trail down my arms. I could feel him leaning forwards, moving himself closer to me. I couldn't bring myself to open my eyes, so I just lay there, waiting for what I knew was to come.
"You're mine now, mut."
His voice made my body tense more than it already had. The way he sounded so angry. So possessive.
I dared myself to speak,
"W-what ar-are you gonna d-do to me?" My voice shook and wavered so much in my fear that it was numb to my ears.
Alpha Dave let out a low, calloused chuckle that sent chills throughout my body. He said, in a deadly low voice,
"I'm going to remind you who you belong to."
