Rose Johnston lives with her foster parent Eric who is a severe alcoholic that beats Rose. She is helpless, she has no one to save her from Eric's abuse. Which includes being beaten senseless and nighty 'visits'. Finally she has had enough of Eric, and life in general. That's when she remembers something her mother used to say to her before she died, "The second star to the right and straight on till morning, all you have to do is say two words, 'I believe' and Peter Pan will take you to Neverland.
