"Are you always this infuriating?" he asks, clearly annoyed.

I shoot him a glare, my temper flaring. "Depends on who's pissing me off," I snap back, noticing the way his fists clench. Great, now I've gone and poked the bear.

"All good. I forgive you," I add quickly, not wanting to push him too far. He scoffs and turns away, unimpressed.

God, what an asshole. I know I'm testing him, but I can't help it-I've always been a hothead, especially when someone tries to control me.

Little does she know, falling for her boss will be the least of her worries as her past resurfaces and new dangers emerge.

Elizabeth's POV:

I roll my eyes, but I'm smiling too. "You're such a charmer, Chris. But I'm onto you."

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"Not bad," I admit, my hand resting comfortably on his leg. "Just...dangerous."
