Ze hoorde het nog vaag in haar hoofd galmen: "Griffoendor!" Het meisje dat ze op de trein had gezien kwam naast haar zitten en keek hoe nog een andere jongen werd ingedeeld in Zwadderich. "Spijtig..." hoorde ze het meisje mompelen. Toen draaide het meisje zichzelf naar haar om en zei: "Hoi, ik ben Lily, Lily Evans.", "Emily, Emily Jones." was het antwoord dat over haar lippen rolde. Een andere jongen, die ook in Griffoendor was ingedeeld kwam naast Lily zitten en stak zijn hand uit: "Hi, ik ben James!" Lily lachte en schudde zijn hand: "Hoi, ik ben Lily!" Een jongen die eerst nog aan de ene kant van de tafel had gezeten kwam nu tegenover Emily zitten en keek haar in de ogen. "Wat een gedoe hier! Ik ben Sirius trouwens, Sirius Zwarts!"
