Mikey is 18 and ready to start his adult life. Him, his brother,and three other friends are starting a band. This is what he's been dreaming about. Too pay the bills for his new apartment, he gets a day job at a mental hospital working as a nurse.

What no one realizes is that inside the hospital, it's a freak show. Nurses and patients sleeping around, doctors shooting up patients drugs, disease runs rampant, and more.

Pete is "celebrating" his two year Anniversary of being stuck there. His insanity and bipolar disorder go hand in hand, as he braves the halls. He basically runs the place.

Soon the two cross paths, and more changes than both can ever imagine.

I'm Mikey Way, the grand twenty year old virgin and general klutz when it came to anything vaguely romantic, with a twenty five year old hermit of a brother who only leaves the basement to visit his not quite boyfriend, Frank. Pete was a man whore, I thought man whore was a pretty weird term, but I guess Pete was a pretty weird person, so it just sort of fit, like pieces in a puzzle, or a dick in his mouth, apparently. Maybe things would end up with Pete being my friend, or maybe even something more than that, wouldn't that just be... odd? Puzzle pieces, huh? But things are never quite that straight forward, things just love to stray just off the key of reason.

Ever since preschool, Pete and Mikey were worst enemies. It started off as kicking down block towers and scribbling over drawings to full on rivalry - throwing punches and yelling insults. Gerard was eager to change this, and made friends with Pete's friendship group. As the two groups hung out every lunch, Pete and Mikey reckoned they were living in hell. But as a school project involved the two getting more time together, their opinions may change. Brendon was never the most thoughtful person. He was not particularly liked amongst the student body, he was known for ruining relationships and spreading nasty secrets. But he never really felt empathetic to these hurt people, not until he had managed to ruin his own relationship. As Brendon realised his life isn't quite complete without Ryan, he knew he needed to get him back. And try to be less self-centred.

When Patrick returns to town after four years away, every little piece of life Pete has worked so hard to put back together, is blown apart again. Patrick wasn't there when Pete needed him most, and now that he's back, he's not the same. There's a wall between them that never used to be there, and is preventing their friendship from ever going back to normal. When you're so bad for someone you need so much, whose sanity do you chose? Theirs, or yours?
