- UNDER EDITING -

It was back then at the time of the Goddesses when she was born.

Death, it's an inviting word that everyone tends to avoid. To accept it is nothing but a fleeting dream for you, no one dared to embrace it.

Foolish, foolish Hylians. They think so badly of it.

When underlying hatred filled a certain Hylian, Darkness was created. Whoever thought that the Darkness had a past? That someone was no one else but you. When you got bored, however.

You decided to have a little fun.

You are a manifestation of hatred, pain, and evil. You are an entity incapable of feeling sorrow, nor joy. And most of all, love. But when you struck a wrong move, a certain man got involved in your schemes. You didn't expect it to happen.

  Not at all.

Amnesia was a funny thing. It strips you of all memories, both good and bad. But what it didn't take away from Link was his caring heart. He wasn't a man who had time to deal with or worry about things like memories anyway. All he cared about was doing what was right. But just because Link had no memories, or any interest to reclaim them, didn't mean they wouldn't return to haunt him. Ever since Link woke up, strange things have been happening around the land. Horrific creatures, not quite monster and not quite human, begin appearing at night to terrorize the denizens of Hyrule. Link, not one to simply let such evils do as they please, decides to investigate into the matter as he travels across the land to find a way to destroy these creatures. It should've been just another job for him, just a problem the people needed solved, just another errand for the incarnation of Hylia's hero. But as he investigates, he is haunted by his past. Link's mind cannot remember what happened. But his heart did. He still feels what he lost, what he failed to protect, even after one hundred years. That's what draws something toward Link, the very same evil that created the creatures he faces. It follows and watches him from the shadows, taunting him, waiting for him to remember the past he's forgotten, waiting for the pain to resurface, waiting for the time he can no longer carry the weight of it all. As he journeys on his quest to defeat Ganon and save Princess Zelda, Link must learn to contend with another ancient evil that taints the land, all while facing the ghosts of his forgotten past. But how long can a disgraced hero last in the face of his failures? Cover art designed by @DaybreakVision on Twitter. Some themes may be upsetting to some readers. Viewer discretion advised. "Where did you come from?" Ilia asked and that's when everything stopped. Where did I come from? I tried to remember, I thought really hard but all I could say was, "I came from a place where no mortal should ever come from if they dare keep their head." The words tumbled from my mouth before I could stop them. I slapped a hand over my mouth, scared I would say more I didn't understand. Why would I say that? (Y/n) had awoke inside of a strange house, surrounded by strange kids. The only issue with that logic, she has no memory. Nothing to trigger why the young man Link and the group of children would be so kind to a stranger. It dawns on her that she needs to find out who she is again. However a darkness is brewing, and Link has a destiny to follow. The strings of fate tangle between the young duo, and (Y/n) makes a decision to help save Hyrule from the darkness. With nothing more than a brave face and an emerald pendant tying her back home, she sets out with Link. They also fall under the service of an imp itching for revenge. However, there is one person standing in the way of (Y/n) getting home. Her best friend, the Usurper King, Zant. He has made it his life goal to protect (Y/n) from himself and place a veil over her eyes to keep her from seeing his wrongs. Her wrath would for sure be the end of his evil plans. This is, the Twilight Veil. A reader insert. COMPLETED- 2018 (Y/n)- Your name (L/n)- Last name (S/c) -Skin color (E/c)- Eye color (H/c)- Hair color The plot for this story is made by me. "Princess!" he yelled after her. "Where are you going?" "Back to the castle," she replied without stopping. "Not by yourself you're not!" "I'm sorry,"-she whipped around-"I didn't realize you were my father?" "Your father, the king, would execute me for letting you travel by yourself." "Oh, so this is about self-preservation?" "Yes. Yours. There are monsters all over Hyrule now, Your Highness." Blue eyes pointedly looked her up and down. "And by the looks of it, you're not equipped to handle that." She mirrored his scrutiny and scoffed. "What, and you are?" She gestured to the cairns beyond the trees. "Are you going to protect me as well as you protected them?" Calamity is upon Hyrule. The Goddess Hylia appointed but two children to prevent the end of the world. The powers they were promised don't come easily, and after years of outright failure, Princess Zelda can't help but wonder if Hylia chose wrong. It certainly doesn't help that the boy fate has tangled her with makes her seethe. Devotion, heartbreak, inadequacy. Faith, perseverance, and courage. This is a story of finding what lies within. [This story is set in a fusion of Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, with a couple tweaks and some familiar faces'n'places from older games joining along the way!] Thank you for the #1 spot in the Zelda tag! 💗 And thank you for #1 in PrincessZelda, LinkxZelda, Zelink, Midna and BreathoftheWild tags!! My first piece of advice to you-- Don't fall in love. I don't care if it's fate, if it's your destiny-- whatever it is-- Don't. It's not worth the consequences. My second piece of advice-- If a fairy approaches you talking about accepting your fate and what not-- turn around and walk away. Don't look back. Don't question it. Shouldn't be hard if you aren't in love. There's no consequences if you aren't in love. If you are, it's too late for you, and I'm sorry. You won't make it to the end of the story. And if you're me, well... I think you've already accepted that fate, and I think its about time to play your part. You wont make it to the end of the story, either.
